BMI is still a useful tool?
In most cases, BMI is a reliable tool. However, it has its limitations because it does not exactly calculate the percentage of body fat. It is not true for the following groups:
* Children and youth - gender for physicians and maps of age to measure the BMI of young
* Women who are pregnant or nursing mothers, need more fat reserves than usual.
* The professional athletes and bodybuilders - BMI does not distinguish between muscle and fat, so people heavily muscled body fat could be considered overweight or obese
There are also small variations in the levels of BMI for both sexes and different races. For example, research suggests that the range of normal BMI should be lower for persons of Asian origin.
