The herbal medicines are of natural origin, derived from vegetable substances with little or no industrial processing that have been used to treat the disease at local or regional level, healing practices. The herbal medicines have a lot of attention in global health debates. In China, traditional medicine herbal played an important role in the strategy to contain and treat severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) .1 Eighty per cent of African populations use some form of medicine Traditional herbal, 2.3 and the annual global market for these products approaches U.S. $ 60 billion.2 Many hope research in traditional medicine made from plants play an essential role in global health. China, India, Nigeria, the United States of America (USA) and WHO have made significant investments in research in traditional medicines medicines.2 industry has invested millions of dollars for promising research and new medicinal chemical compounds.4, 5 This is still a relatively modest investment compared to the entire pharmaceutical industry, but it raises interesting ethical questions, some of which are not encountered in drug development more conventional.
As attention and public funding for traditional medicines herbal research collaborations to develop, a more detailed analysis of ethical issues in this research is justified. The limited literature has addressed issues such as informed consent and independent review related to traditional medicine herbal research.6 7 Here we apply a practical, comprehensive and widely accepted ethical framework for traditional medicine herbal research.8 We examine in detail the difficult issues related to social value and scientific validity of the favorable risk-benefit ratio. We conclude with implications for future research in this area, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and partnership.
