TCM considers the human body that carried out the integrated connection by taking the "heart", his master and the five viscera, such as the storage center associated to excrete six viscera, official body and organs and orifices, for means of connecting meridians and circulation of qi and blood, etc., and this context has a rule, ie, storage Viscusi, an excreting Viscusi, one body and a hole to form a system.

Five storing viscera and five kinds of emotion: The emotions of man pertain to the functions of the five storing viscera for the physiological activities of the five storing viscera results the emotional changes such as anger, joy, anxiety, sadness, and fear, i.e., five kinds of emotions. The excess change of emotion will injure the viscera internally. (As the fig.)

Formation of blood: Blood is the one of the fundamental substances to constitute the human body and maintain the activities of the life. It is chiefly composed of nutritional qi and jinye (body fluids) which are the refined essence of foods and are transported into red fluids, i.e., blood, after they enter into the vessels. The formation of blood is mainly related to the two aspects: one is that the spleen and stomach are the source of transforming qi and blood; the other is that jing (essence) and blood are mutually generated. See the fig.

Classification of qi: Generally speaking, the qi of the body is originated from essential qi stored in the kidney, essential qi of water and grains transported by the spleen and stomach, and clear qi inhaled by the lung. It is formed by combing the three by the functions of internal organs, such as the lung, spleen, stomach, kidney, etc. There are many kinds of qi according to the constituents, distribution, and features of action of qi, among which the primordial qi mainly consists of the essential qi stored in the kidney and flows throughout the body via the triple energizer; the chest qi is composed of a combination of the refined matter from foods and clear qi of the nature, and it gathers in the chest to promote the respiration and the circulation of qi and blood; the nutritional qi mainly originates from the essential qi of water and grains and flows together with blood in vessels; the defensive qi also originates from the essential qi of water and grains but flows outside the vessels; furthermore, there are the visceral qi and meridian qi.
