The most common symptom of cancer of the cervix is abnormal vaginal bleeding, usually between periods or after sexual intercourse. Often, there is also a smelly vaginal discharge, and discomfort during sex. Women who have had their menopause (who are no longer periods) may be new bleeding.

There are many other conditions can also cause these symptoms, but it is important that you see your doctor or practice nurse about them. It may be embarrassing to talk about these symptoms, but the sooner you consult your doctor and a diagnosis is made, the better the chances of successful treatment.
