MAIN POINTS FOR DIAGNOSIS

Common symptoms of cervical spondylopathy in mild cases are numbness and pain in the head, neck, shoulder, and arm. Those in severe cases are soreness and weak-ness in the body and limbs, even dizziness, palpitation, incontinence of feces and urine, and paralysis. The results of special functional tests such as compressing vertextest and pressing intervertebral foramina test are both positive.

Cervical spondylopathy is a commonly and frequently encountered disease in the middle-aged and the aged people. According to modem medical science, the problem is mostly caused by the senile degeneration of the cervical vertebrae, e.g. hyperplastic bony substance crushes the nerves and blood vessels or stimulates the local muscles inducing aseptic inflammation and causing a series of clinical symptoms, so it is also called cervical spondylotic syndrome. TCM holds that the occurrence of cervical spondy-lopathy results from advanced age, deficiency of kidney qi and insufficiency of nourishment~ another reason is disorders of qi and blood in the human body, or stagnation of pathological products such as dampness, phlegm, blood stasis, etc., which cause obstruction of the meridians and dysfunction of tendons and bones, resulting in the problem.

BASIC MANIPULATIONS

The principle of tuina therapy is dredging the meridians, activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis.
