Dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint

The dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint refers to a series of symptoms as a snap, pain and difficulty opening the mouth, and is also called syndrome of temporomandibular joint.

Clinical Manifestations

The main symptoms are snap, pain in the joints and difficulty opening the mouth.

Diagnosis

In the temporomandibular Snap.

The pain and tenderness of the temporomandibular joint.

Difficulty opening the mouth or limitation of mouth opening.

Tuina Treatment

Apply a Rou Fa (method of pressing kneading) with the major Jiache (ST 6), Xiaguan (ST 7), Yifeng (TE 17), while the patient is sitting or lying position takes.

Apply a Rou Fa (method of pressing kneading) on both sides of Jiache (ST 6) with both thumbs, and put the rest of the fingers of both hands on the lower edge of the mandible and jaw move slightly.

The doctor stands behind the patient, by pressing the temple and hit the condylar process with greater thenar eminence of one hand and on the other side of the jaw healthy. The patient is asked to make movements of opening and closing the mouth, and the doctor presses the parties (the temple and affected condylar and jaw on the healthy side) in the opposite direction with both hands simultaneously.

Apply Ca Fa (backward forward rubbing method) to the affected part of the temporomandibular joint with the largest thenar
